He Wanted to Cancel. Five Minutes Before the Knock.

The shoot was prepared before the sun said good morning, and then there was this fog. With my first coffee comes a message from the past: a gentleman remembers his very first date in Stuttgart. I am getting a little sentimental.

"Marina was my first date ever..."

That a little workaholic lives inside me should no longer be a secret. The shoot was prepared before the sun said good morning. And then I stepped outside and saw, for the first time really, how beautiful fog can be. It lay over everything like a thin veil, the outlines soft, the sounds muffled. I stood there a moment longer than necessary.

So I put the coffee on and skimmed my emails. There was a name I already know well, and below it this message. I am sharing it lightly smoothed and without names:

"Marina was my very first date ever. I no longer remember exactly when, but definitely before Covid. I was staying at the Motel One in Stuttgart-Feuerbach and had spoken on the phone beforehand, and they had recommended a lady to me. That is how it came about.

That evening I was so nervous, you cannot imagine. I paced up and down that small room like a tiger. I actually wanted to cancel at short notice. When I looked at the clock, there were about five minutes left until the appointment. I thought: she might already be in the hotel, and cancelling now would be unfair to her.

Shortly after, she knocked on the door. I opened it and was pleasantly surprised at how friendly and natural she was. Completely different from the film in my head, shaped by prejudice, of course. She was very mature, calm and relaxed. She noticed my nervousness, naturally. She simply sat down next to me and started talking to me. That allowed me to come down and, bit by bit, get back to normal.

Two or three more meetings with her followed. Then Covid came, and that was my break from everything. Some years later, she was no longer on the homepage. I hope she is well."

I admit it: that honours me. These were truly years in which we, as a team, were allowed to leave a lasting impression. That a gentleman remembers a room in Stuttgart Escort Stuttgart and five minutes before the knock after all this time makes me a little bit proud. Creating beautiful bonds between people that still echo years later is exactly why I love doing what I do at PURE.

Where she is today, I cannot and will not say. That, too, is discretion, and it does not end with the goodbye. I share your hope that she is well.

And the fact that she simply sat down beside him instead of filling the silence reminds me of something I have to write something tomorrow.

Perhaps I should start a matchmaking agency instead. Jokes aside. Or at least half of one.

Now I am curious and ask you: do you remember the feeling five minutes before your very first date? The vote is anonymous, and an honest answer is the best one. I will share the result here in the diary. Thank you for the post from the past, dear gentleman.

On this foggy morning, I am getting properly sentimental.

Discreetly yours,
Lena
